In the wake of the mass shooting at a Parkland, Florida high school, some Wisconsin Republicans have signaled support for legislation that would allow teachers and other school personnel to carry firearms.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, R-Rochester, said he is open to discussing the proposal, and AG Brad Schimel said he’d offer firearm training for school personnel.
Dems blasted the idea, calling instead for passing strengthened background checks. Democrats have also introduced bills that would prohibit individuals convicted of a domestic violence misdemeanor from possessing a firearm, and to prohibit the sale or possession of bump stocks.
