MADISON — Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Martha Laning issued the following statement on tonight’s Wisconsin U.S. Senate debate:
“Wisconsin’s U.S. Senate race is about who will put Wisconsin first, and tonight’s debate made it clear that Leah Vukmir is out to represent powerful insurance companies and her corporate special interest backers, not Wisconsin working families.
“Vukmir’s plans to gut protections for Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions and let insurance companies charge older Americans more, and her support for deep cuts to Social Security and Medicare present a clear contrast with Tammy Baldwin, who was the only candidate on the debate stage tonight who made it clear that she will stand up to powerful special interests and do right by Wisconsin.”
