[Madison, WI]— Today, Governor Scott Walker released an ad, playing on gas pump TV screens across the state, criticizing Tony Evers’ plans to increase the gas tax by as much as $1 per gallon. While Evers pushes property, income, and gas tax hikes, Walker’s bold agenda will continue to reduce the tax burden on Wisconsin families.
“When it comes to raising the gas tax, Tony Evers said that ‘everything is on the table’ – even up to a $1 per gallon tax hike,” said Alec Zimmerman spokesman for the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “Taxpayers have a clear choice this fall between Scott Walker, who has delivered over $8 billion in tax relief for Wisconsin, and Tony Evers who is open to hiking taxes on hard-working Wisconsin families.”
Tony Evers’ reckless plan to raise taxes
- When asked if he would raise the gas tax by up to $1 he said, “everything is on the table.”
- A $1 per gallon increase in the gas tax could cost the average Wisconsin family with two drivers up to $1,200 each year.
- Tony Evers has said he is open to raising a variety of taxes – including property and income taxes.
Governor Walker’s bold agenda on taxes
- New Graduate Tax Credit will give college graduates who stay in Wisconsin up to $5,000 in tax credits.
- Child Care Tax Credit will provide important tax relief for working families to be able to afford childcare.
- Expanding the Homestead Tax Credit will allow more seniors to stay in their homes.
