GREEN BAY– Yesterday, Region 5 of the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced $11.5 million in Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grants to Midwestern states. Among the recipients were Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District (NEW Water) which received $338,438 for buffers on ephemeral headwaters in Fox River sub-watersheds; an adaptive management technique to improve water quality in a region without the over burdensome expense of massive infrastructure upgrades that provide minimal impacts. Wisconsin Department of Revenue: Wisconsin homeowners got a nice present from the lottery

This month Wisconsin homeowners received a larger Lottery and Gaming Credit on their property tax bills than last year. The estimated $24 increase in the average credit is due, primarily, to lottery sales exceeding estimates, which resulted in a higher opening balance for 2019-20.  In 2018-19, the corresponding Lottery and Gaming Credit was $160. “The Lottery Credit this year is 15 percent higher than last year,” said Peter Barca, Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary.  “This is due, primarily, to the Wisconsin Lottery having a banner year, and the credit returned to homeowners is based on Lottery profits.” Overall, the Lottery

Bloomberg opens Milwaukee campaign office

Dem presidential hopeful Mike Bloomberg was in Milwaukee over the weekend to open a campaign office. The move is part of Bloomberg’s push to staff up in the “blue wall” states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, where President Trump won each by less than 1 percent.
