(MADISON) — In an op-ed in the Wisconsin State Journal over the weekend, Gov. Tony Evers applauded President Biden’s leadership during his first 100 days in office and thanked the Biden administration for helping Wisconsin bounce back from the pandemic. Gov. Evers has spent a lot of time talking to Wisconsinites from every corner of the state, and he knows “Wisconsin’s families need relief now.” That’s why Gov. Evers is working hard to quickly distribute funds from the Biden administration’s American Rescue Plan and has introduced the Badger Bounceback agenda, a plan to invest in our infrastructure, support small businesses, expand access to quality, affordable health

AARP: Says removal of nearly 300 budget items was ill advised and poorly timed

We at AARP Wisconsin are extremely disappointed with the actions taken last Friday by members of the state’s Joint Finance Committee, who proposed a resolution that removes most of Governor Evers’ nearly 300 proposed state budget items without taking an appropriate amount of time to consider the testimony and online comments of thousands of Wisconsinites. The JFC held three in-person state budget hearings, but offered only one virtual budget hearing, despite the fact that many residents are still hesitant to gather in large indoor spaces due to COVID-19 concerns. This resulted in many citizens not having an opportunity to testify

A Better Wisconsin Together: Republicans try to stifle debate on Governor Ever’s badger bounceback budget proposal

MADISON, Wis. — Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee, the legislative committee responsible for the state budget, announced their intent to vote this week to strip hundreds of provisions from Governor Evers’ Badger Bounceback budget proposal. The procedural move is intended to stifle the voices of the majority of Wisconsinites by trying to prevent debates in the committee on popular policies that legislative Republicans want to eliminate from the budget. While they might try, they will fail to quiet the voices of Wisconsinites who are calling for racial equity, affordable healthcare, the freedom to vote, clean air and water, investments in
