The new WIS 81 bridges over I-39/90 in Beloit will be closed to all traffic from 8 p.m. Monday (Nov. 15) to 5 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 17). Motorists must use the signed detour route of Cranston Road and Gateway Boulevard to bypass the closure. The I-39/90 and WIS 81 interchange ramps will remain open for right turns only. All I-39/90 ramps to I-43 will be open and will not be impacted.

The closure will allow crews to remove the temporary lane markings and install permanent pavement markings for the final configuration of the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). Crews will also adjust the traffic signals to optimize traffic flow.

When reopened, the new interchange will be in its DDI configuration where traffic shifts to the opposite side of the roadway for free-flow left turns onto the Interstate. This is the third DDI to be constructed on the I-39/90 Expansion Project and the fourth DDI in the state of Wisconsin. Read more about the WIS 81 DDI at projects.511wi.gov/i-39-90/ddi/wis81/.
