(Green Bay, Wis.) It’s going to be a big week at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB) with three new, nonstop flights taking off for warm weather destinations.
On Thursday, December 16, Sun Country Airlines will begin its nonstop service to Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers, marking the start of twice weekly nonstop flights on Thursdays and Sundays. Then, on Friday, December 17, Sun Country begins its twice weekly (Fridays and Sundays) nonstop service to Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) in Phoenix, Arizona.
On Thursday, Dec. 16, Frontier Airlines begins its new nonstop service to Tampa International Airport (TPA) in Tampa, Florida. Tampa service will occur twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays
The TPA flights are in addition to Frontier’s nonstop flights to Denver International Airport (DIA) and Orlando International Airport (MCO).
“It is great to have three inaugural flights in one week,” said GRB Airport Director Marty Piette, A.A.E. “And I’m equally pleased these flights give local travelers some great options for getting away in the winter. It’s easier and more affordable than ever before. I would like to thank both Sun Country and Frontier for their commitment to GRB and our area travelers. I’d also like to urge residents to support these flights so we can continue to expand local air service offerings.”
Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach added, “These new flights are a strong sign of a recovering economy as well as the growing interest of local residents to resume traveling. The airport plays an important role in our community, having a significant yearly impact of more than $265 million. Any time we can add more flights, especially nonstop destinations, it’s good for everyone.”
To welcome passengers to the new flights, refreshments will be provided, including fresh oranges to celebrate the Florida flights.
