OSHKOSH — On Thursday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) released the following statement in commemoration of Veterans Day:

“I am honored to say thank you to the finest among us: the men and women who have volunteered to serve this great nation as members of our armed services. Each answered the call of duty when they took the oath to ‘support and defend the Constitution of the United States.’ We honor them by living by that Constitution and by responsibly exercising the liberty they defended for us.

“For more than two centuries, millions of brave men and women have been willing to offer their time, their courage, even their lives to defend our freedom. Let us all pause to remember and express our gratitude to them all and to their families. Because of their sacrifice, we remain today, as we have been for 245 years: a free nation and a beacon of hope to all people.”
