MADISON, Wis. — Today, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler held a virtual press conference with Governor Tony Evers, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, and Attorney General Josh Kaul to launch WisDems’ One Year To Win (1Y2W) Weekend of Action.

One year out from the 2022 midterm elections, Democrats are back knocking on doors across the state. The 2022 election will come down to a handful of votes, and the work of volunteers can be the difference between winning and losing. WisDems’ goal is to reach 100,000 voters this weekend — double the 1Y2W goal in 2019.
In the coming year, WisDems will remind voters in every corner of the state that Wisconsin families are benefiting from more affordable child care and health care, tax cuts for working parents, and critical pandemic relief — all thanks to President Biden, Gov. Evers, and Wisconsin Democrats in Congress.

Governor Tony Evers: “The stakes are high in Wisconsin. Whether it’s voting rights, access to health care, or funding public education, I know we can make even more progress. I will continue fighting for bold, bipartisan solutions to tackle the big issues and make sure the state is even stronger than before. We aren’t taking a day for granted. We’re organizing earlier, building a strong team, and building a campaign that is ready to win.”
Senator Tammy Baldwin: “The entire balance of the United States Senate, whether we’re able to hang on to our razor-thin majority, could come down to the state of Wisconsin. And just like in 2020, the eyes of the nation are on us — we are going to have one of the most competitive, expensive, and intense Senate races in the entire country. I know we are in a good position to win because Democrats have been focusing on the issues that matter most to voters.”
Attorney General Josh Kaul: “Wisconsin is going to be — once again — the center of the political universe. We have an extremely high profile U.S. Senate race, Gov. Evers is up for re-election, I’m up for re-election, and there are lots of other races up and down the ballot. Wisconsin will be, once again, a critical stake in terms of what our nation’s future is going to look like. So it is critical that we work hard.”

As part of One Year to Win, WisDems will be holding in-person canvass kickoffs across the state Saturday and Sunday with Gov. Evers, Attorney General Josh Kaul, state representatives, state senators, mayors, school board members, and more in cities, towns, and villages all across the Badger State.
