MADISON, Wis. — Today, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin honors Veterans Day, giving thanks to all who have served and sacrificed so much to protect their country.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement in observance of Veteran’s Day:

“Today, we recognize and thank all those who have served in the U.S. Armed Services, recognizing their bravery, commitment, and the sacrifices made to protect Americans and the values we hold near to our hearts. We also extend our gratitude to the families of service members, who make tremendous sacrifices of their own to ensure that their loved ones can serve.

“While we can never truly thank our veterans enough, we can honor them by continuing to fight for the rights that veterans have risked so much for — including our right to vote. The freedom to vote is a cornerstone of our democracy, and we’re proud that Governor Tony Evers, President Biden, and Democrats in Congress have been, and continue to be, committed to defending this great freedom. We can also ensure that our state and nation keeps its promises to veterans, ensuring they have the health care, both physical and mental, that they deserve, and access to jobs, opportunity, and education. We’re grateful that our elected Democratic leaders, from Governor Evers to President Biden and beyond, continue to be champions on veterans issues.

“Today, and every day, we honor the generations of Americans who have answered the call to service for all they have done to protect our country. We thank you for your dedicated service and all you have done to protect our country.”
