TDA: Statement on proposed federal Gas Tax suspension

Madison – Transportation Development Association Executive Director Debby Jackson released the  following statement on the proposed federal gas tax holiday:  “Legislation introduced in Congress to suspend the federal gas tax is short-sighted and unlikely to provide  relief for Wisconsin families. However, it will undercut the largest revenue source for public transit and  federal highway improvements and put more money on the nation’s credit card.  “To save Wisconsin residents and businesses time and money, we should focus on putting the  Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act dollars to work addressing the state’s well-documented backlog of  transportation system repairs and maintenance.”  About TDA

Rep. Considine: We must take action

MADISON – Today, Assembly leaders gaveled in and out of Governor Evers’ Special Session regarding his state surplus plan. Earlier in the year, the Legislative Fiscal Bureau (LFB) projected that the state will have a surplus of $3.8 billion by the end of the 2021-23 biennium. Governor Evers’ plan would have used these surplus funds to invest in education, create a caregiver tax credit, and provide a tax rebate to all Wisconsin residents. Rep. Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) released the following statement on this inaction: “I am disappointed with the inaction of the Assembly leaders. Governor Evers provided us with a great opportunity

Evers Campaign: Wisconsin Republicans refuse to take action on rising costs, child care, education quality

MADISON, Wis. — Today, in less than a minute in both chambers, the Republican-controlled Wisconsin Legislature refused to take action on Governor Tony Evers’ surplus plan — showing that they’re against addressing rising costs, increasing child care opportunities, expanding caregiving, and improving education quality. Whether at the gas pump or the checkout line, Wisconsinites are feeling the effects of rising costs, and last week’s Marquette poll highlighted that Wisconsinites expect action on rising costs. Gov. Evers has urged legislators to put aside partisan differences and come to the table for Wisconsin families, but unfortunately, Republican leaders have chosen to gavel out of the special session and previously said

State Sen.
