Today, Republican Tim Michels announced his candidacy for governor of Wisconsin.
Democratic Governors Association Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement:
“Tim Michels is an extremist who Wisconsinites have rejected twice before — and for good reason. His radical record and unethical business practices speak for themselves. Michels opposed gay marriage and wanted to ban abortions without exceptions for rape or incest, while his business has scammed the State of Wisconsin by double-charging for a construction job. Michels is just another greedy, out-of-touch Republican who would do more harm than good for Wisconsin. Even before announcing, he went down to Mar-a-Lago to kiss up to Trump, showing how extreme and divisive he plans to be. His entrance into the already bruising Republican primary will do nothing but highlight how out-of-touch this entire GOP field is with the issues that matter most to Wisconsinites.
“Gov. Tony Evers has delivered on the kitchen-table issues that make a real difference in Wisconsinites’ lives. He’s made historic investments in public schools, infrastructure, workforce development, and high-speed internet. We look forward to fighting for a second term for Gov. Evers so he can continue to build a better Wisconsin.”
