The News: The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) filed a lawsuit on behalf of retirement account participants, Rick Braun and Fred Luehrs, against the U.S. Secretary of Labor for a new rule permitting the use of environmental, social, and governance (commonly referred to as “ESG”) factors in retirement investing. The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. NFIB state leader says small businesses oppose budget proposals on paid leave, retirement program

The head of NFIB Wisconsin says the state’s small business community opposes elements of Gov. Tony Evers’ budget aimed at paid family leave and a targeted retirement savings program.  “When the government mandates a retirement program, or mandates paid family and medical leave, that’s not trusting the private sector to do the right thing,” National Federation of Independent Business State Director Bill Smith said yesterday in an interview.  He said one of the main advantages of working for or owning a small business is flexibility, arguing such mandates “destroy that flexibility.”  “And as a result, we lose a competitive edge

Leading health organizations: Support breast cancer screening and diagnostics legislation

[Madison, Wis.] — Today, leading advocates for women’s health praised a new bill, authored by Sen. Rachael Cabral-Guevara and Rep. Nate Gustafson, which increases critical access to essential breast cancer screenings. Roughly two out of five women have dense breast tissue where a mammogram alone cannot effectively detect evidence of breast cancer, and this bill makes it easier for women to receive additional life-saving testing. Health insurers in Wisconsin are now required to provide one annual mammographic screening to women over 50, and two screenings to women aged 45-49 who meet certain criteria, at no out-of-pocket cost to the patient. Unfortunately, the supplemental
