Hi folks! Welcome back to Tammy Tuesdays, our weekly update email on Tammy’s work and the big fights she’s taking on for Wisconsin families.

Tammy knows that there’s more that unites us than divides us. She understands that Wisconsin’s working families all want good-paying jobs, affordable healthcare, and the same freedoms their parents and grandparents had.

Read below for highlights of what Tammy worked on this week:

Serving Our Veterans

Wisconsin is the proud home of servicemembers, veterans, and military families who have made incredible sacrifices for our country. And since our veterans put their lives on the line to keep us safe and free, Tammy believes that they deserve everything we can provide.

Yesterday, on Memorial Day, Tammy was proud to help secure a Purple Heart for Wisconsin veteran, Sgt. Joseph Mueller, who sacrificed his life for the freedom of our country in the Vietnam War. Sgt. Mueller’s military service records were lost in a fire, so Tammy worked with his loved ones to help him get the recognition he deserved for his sacrifice. Yesterday, members of Sgt. Mueller’s family were presented the Purple Heart award on his behalf at the Slinger Memorial Day Parade.

This week, Tammy also kicked off her “Delivering for Our Veterans Tour,” where she made stops in New Richmond, Wausau, Green Bay, and Racine to meet with Wisconsin veterans and discuss the impact the PACT Act has had in improving the lives of our veterans right here at home. Last year, Tammy helped pass the PACT Act, which expands VA health care and benefits for more than 3.5 million veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. Tammy is proud of our veterans and all the sacrifices they make to keep our country safe, that’s why she’ll always work hard to do right by them.

Standing Up to Big Pharma

Tammy believes that every single Wisconsinite deserves affordable health care. When she heard from Wisconsinites that they were having to ration life saving prescription drugs, or sacrifice them completely in order to pay their bills and groceries, Tammy took action. Last year, she took on Big Pharma and forced them to lower drug prices and cap insulin costs at $35 a month for our seniors.

Tammy is taking action again, and calling out Big Pharma for their price gouging. Lately, Big Pharma has been hiking up their prices and giving no explanations for their increases. Tammy is working across the aisle to address these corrupt practices through the FAIR Drug Pricing Act, which will force Big Pharma to justify and be transparent about their pricing practices. Tammy promises that she is going to keep standing up to Big Pharma until they’re held accountable for their actions.

Cleaning Up the Brownfields

Tammy knows how important it is that we invest in our state and in our country’s infrastructure. That’s why she was proud to support the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which is providing investments into the Environmental Protection Agency’s brownfield cleanup program.

This week, Tammy announced she secured almost $10 million for Wisconsin’s brownfield cleanup. This investment will go toward multiple projects across the state to speed up cleanup and redevelopment of brownfield sites. This means that these polluted and hazardous areas can be repurposed for a variety of economic opportunities, helping revitalize the communities affected by these sites. Tammy is committed to making sure all Wisconsinites have safe, clean neighborhoods to live in with access to economic opportunities.

Building Momentum for 2024

Tammy knows that all Wisconsinites just want a good paying job, affordable health care, and their freedoms protected. As Senator, she has been committed to making sure that working people, not just the big corporations and ultra-wealthy, have a fighter on their side. And with so much at stake, Tammy knows that Wisconsinites need someone in Washington who can take on the big fights, and win.

This week, Tammy was excited to receive the Wisconsin AFL-CIO’s endorsement in an event highlighting her efforts to bring hundreds of jobs to Milwaukee over the next five years. To a crowd of labor supporters and leaders, Wisconsin AFL-CIO president Stephanie Bloomingdale talked about Tammy’s winning record of standing up for Wisconsin workers, stating, “Tammy has got our backs.” In 2024, Tammy is running for the U.S. Senate to keep having our workers’ backs and making sure they have a voice fighting for them in Washington.

Tammy rounded out her week as a special guest on the Wedge Issues podcast with the Cap Times where she spoke about working across the aisle to pass the Respect for Marriage Act, standing up for Buy America, and her efforts to help our farmers and rural communities get the mental health resources they need. Tammy knows that while we’ve accomplished a lot over the years, there is more work to be done in 2024. She’s committed to moving our state forward and taking on the big fights for all Wisconsinites.
