Franklin, WI –Forward Latino, a national non-profit, non-partisan service and advocacy organization headquartered in Franklin, Wisconsin issued the following statement following the conviction and sentencing of the mass killer who took 23 lives at an El Paso, Texas Walmart on August 2, 2019.
Forward Latino National President Darryl Morin issued the following statement:
“While we thank the judge and jury for the conviction of the mass killer, no sentence will bring back the lives of those lost, or fully heal the wounds of the survivors. No sentence will ever reduce gun violence like commonsense gun violence prevention
legislation would. As of today there have been 361 mass shootings in the United States.
Gun owners and non-gun owners overwhelmingly agree on the need for universal background checks and red flag laws. It is time for our elected representatives to act on the will of the people and pass this commonsense legislation.”
