The majority of us want:

Universal background checks for gun purchases 87%
Renewable energy efforts 86%
Major increase in state aid for special education 73%
Replace 1849 abortion ban 72%
Action to regulate carbon pollution 72%
Legalize medical cannabis 64%
Expand medicaid 62 %
Increase minimum wage 55%

Instead the Republicans passed a bill to lower taxes in the state’s third highest income bracket and focused relief on the state’s wealthiest residents. Increased the amount of money parents can deduct for sending their children to private school and added requirements to receive assistance when unemployed.

Most of us support unions, support public services, and want increased funding for our public schools and the University of Wisconsin. We stand for equity, diversity and inclusion for all and expect legislators to respect the views expressed in public hearings and referendums.

Those we elect and send to Madison should do for people what they as a community or individuals cannot do for themselves.

Unfortunately this has been lost on the Republicans who control our state legislature.
