Madison, WI – On May 18, 2023, the Joint Committee on Finance (JFC) voted in favor of a budget motion led by Representative Alex Dallman (R-Green Lake) to assist with a revitalization project on Mirror Lake in Lake Delton, WI.
Mirror Lake lies within Mirror Lake State Park and is enjoyed by many local residents and by nearly 500,000 visitors each year. The proposed project will remove sediment that has built up over time, forming deltas, which have made the lake nearly unnavigable. The project will also stabilize gullies that have washed out due to significant flooding.
The budget motion, which is now part of Wisconsin’s 2023-2025 biennial budget bill, will direct the Department of Natural Resources to pay a portion of the $1.3 million project.
“Mirror Lake is one of Wisconsin’s most beautiful natural resources that is enjoyed by many Wisconsinites and visitors each year,” said Rep. Dallman. “I am thrilled this project will be moving forward in the state budget.”
“I encourage everyone to contact Governor Evers and urge him to approve the Mirror Lake dredging project in the state budget so that the lake can continue being enjoyed for many years to come.”
