Madison, WI – Rep. Treig E. Pronschinske released the following statement succeeding the Governor Evers’ budget vetoes:
“Today could have been a wonderful day in Wisconsin history. We were poised to give the largest tax cut in the 175-year history of this state but Governor Evers decided that politics were more important than people. Governor Evers vetoed the third tax cut, leaving our middle class citizens out to dry. This behavior is not only confusing, it’s cruel and callous.
“On top of this ignorant decision by the Governor, he also decided that your property were not worth reducing. In fact, the property taxes of hard-working Wisconsinites will increase exponentially for years to come. Working class citizens of this state deserve a tax cut, not those who get by on government dollars and programs.
“Lastly, the most tragic part of this misstep of leadership is that Governor Evers will use all this excess money in two years to create a political message to run on for his 3rd term as Governor. He will propose big middle class tax cuts in two years so his impact is fresh and recency bias comes into play in the minds of all Wisconsin voters. This political maneuvering is shameful and tasteless. Wisconsin voters deserve someone who works for them and cares for them. Today, Governor Evers clearly demonstrated that he is not that person. He does not care about moving Wisconsin forward, he only cares about getting reelected.”
