“Wisconsin’s historic budget surplus presents an historic opportunity to make investments that will move Wisconsin forward. Governor Evers’ budget does just that. This budget reflects many of the priorities I hear from the people in my district. They want us to invest in our schools, increase access to high-speed internet, make health care and mental health services more accessible and affordable, and more fairly share resources with our local governments so local officials can provide the services that keep our community strong and safe. I am thrilled that the Governor’s budget makes meaningful, and in some cases game-changing, investments in all those areas. I applaud Governor Evers for his commitment to listen to the people we serve, to hear their concerns, and to address them in this budget. Budgets are more than financial documents: they are a reflection of our values.
