Republicans in Congress have just given the game away. Over the past year they have demanded a border security bill and made aid for Ukraine conditional upon this bill.

The Senate brought forth a bi-partisan border bill that was welcomed by the Border Patrol union. Without reading the bill, House Speaker Johnson, announced the bill was dead on arrival.

For Republicans it has become second nature to put party before country and people. They take pride in playing politics rather than governing.

It appears Republicans always intended the border to be their campaign issue. They thought Democrats would never compromise on a border security measure.

Once news spread that a deal was close at hand Trump and House Speaker Johnson came out strongly against the bill, even throwing some of their own under the bus to kill the bill.

Republicans in both houses followed orders and the bill never saw the light of day.

The Congressional Republican’s irresponsibility is breathtaking. Their actions place our country and people at risk and practically guarantees Putin’s victory to destroy Ukraine.

The Republicans we sent to Washington D. C. are no longer the voice of the people. They are political marionettes dangling from the strings of a political party boss.

Marionettes have no spine, no will, no intellect. They are totally controlled by the individual holding the strings.

Republicans in Congress are handing our government to an authoritarian political party boss. They are abandoning our democracy by choosing to serve a dictatorial master rather than the people they took an oath to represent.

Once in power the master has no need for his GOP marionettes. They, along with our democracy, are simply tossed aside. Once our great experiment with democracy is gone; we, the people, may not be able to bring it back.
