One Nation, a super PAC aligned with GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell, is out with a new TV ad that seeks to tie U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, to the Waukesha Christmas parade tragedy.

One Nation two weeks ago announced a $7.5 million campaign in the state on broadcast and cable TV, radio and digital platforms. The PAC is currently the biggest spender on the GOP side between Wisconsin’s primary and the Nov. 5 general election. Overall, AdImpact has tracked $15.2 million in ad reservations by GOP groups and Republican nominee Eric Hovde compared to $42 million by Baldwin and the groups backing her.

The new ad plays clips from the aftermath of the November 2021 incident as the narrator says it “never should’ve happened” and six Wisconsinites were “mowed down” by Brooks. The narrator adds Brooks was out on $1,000 bail after trying to run over his girlfriend with the same car days earlier.

The narrator then says Baldwin voted against increased funding for pre-trial detention of violent criminals, citing an Aug. 7, 2022, roll call. The spot shows an image of Brooks next to Baldwin as the narrator says her vote made it “easier for criminals like Darrell Brooks to terrorize our communities. Tell Sen. Baldwin: Violent criminals belong behind bars.”
