Carl Schoettel, President of the Wisconsin Bear Hunters’ Association (WBHA), made the following statement on the Joint Legislative Audit Committee’s actions on the Fish and Wildlife account.
“The Wisconsin Bear Hunters’ Association would like to thank Senator Wimberger, Representative Wittke and the members of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee for bringing forward an audit of the State’s Fish and Wildlife Account. We would also like to thank Senator Stafsholt and Representative Green for their courage in asking for an audit. For far too long there have been questions and concerns over the handling of the dollars coming directly from Wisconsin’s sportsmen and sportswomen into the Fish and Wildlife account. Wisconsin’s sporting community deserves transparency and accountability over where these dollars go and how they are allocated. We look forward to getting that transparency through the audit procedure.”
WBHA will continue to advocate for the sporting community in Wisconsin to ensure that dollars that are earmarked for the betterment of our sporting heritage are being spent wisely.
