ROTHSCHILD: U.S. Rep. Tony Wied, R-De Pere, at the GOP convention today said Republicans “cannot wait until next year” to start the fight to take over the governor’s office in Wisconsin.
“Right now, we have a governor who refuses to even say the word ‘mother,’ who fights the Trump administration at every single turn, who would rather protect illegal aliens than hardworking Wisconsinites,” Wied said of Dem Gov. Tony Evers. “Wisconsin deserves so much better. We will defeat him, but we cannot wait until next year — the fight starts right now.”
Evers has not said whether he will seek reelection next year.

Wied also praised the Trump administration work in the past few months.
“In November of last year, the people of Wisconsin sent a clear message: we would not stand by and let radical, far-left policies continue to destroy our country.”
Wied, elected to his first term in November, said the country is truly in a golden age, saying President Donald Trump has cracked down on border security, helped lower prices for Americans and unleashed American energy.
