Members of Wisconsin’s congressional delegation today touted President Donald Trump’s work on illegal immigration, saying he has restored order following the chaos that was created by his Dem predecessor Joe Biden.
But U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman, R-Glenbeulah, said Republicans aren’t doing as well in polling on immigration as he believes they should be, which is “kind of scary because Biden tried to destroy this country through unlimited immigration.”
Grothman ticked off a series of stats on legal immigration as he argued: “We have nothing to apologize for.”
Meanwhile, he said the federal government went through a shutdown because Dems “don’t care one bit if we don’t have any border patrol or we don’t have any ICE.”

“If you have any friends who say, ‘I don’t like Republicans because they’re being mean to immigrants,’ we are letting people in here,” Grothman said.
The panel — which included U.S. Reps. Scott Fitzgerald, of Juneau, Derrick Van Orden, of Prairie du Chien, and Tony Wied, of DePere — touted various efforts by Republicans to cut taxes and address education. Republicans hold six of the eight Wisconsin congressional seats.
Wied praised Trump for ending the “Green New Deal scam” as one way Republicans are addressing rising energy costs.
They also regularly urged activists to back colleague Tom Tiffany, R-Minocqua, in this year’s governor’s race, saying a victory would be key to changing the state’s trajectory on various issues.
“Wisconsin right now has high energy costs, and until we get rid of the Democrats, I don’t think we’ll be able to solve that problem,” Grothman said.
