Hello, I’m Nina Chat. I am a new Republican candidate in Wisconsin, running for the 76th State Assembly district located in Madison, Wisconsin. I am a mom of four great kids and now want to translate what I learned from raising them to help improve our schools.

You’ve probably heard our schools are failing our children, with the majority of students getting poor reading and math scores. This is unacceptable.

My idea after spending two decades of seeing my children moving through the schools is open classrooms. This means more time for parents to go to the schools and see what’s going on in the classrooms. Of course there has to be rules for this, but the parents should be able to interact with the teachers and students at given times. The parents should be able to ask questions. I think this will make the classrooms more interesting and benefit the students. Parents will be able to really zero in and help their children. And having other parents there perhaps asking questions will add new ideas to the classroom. Open Classrooms can connect all the parents, students and teachers as one family. One parent can connect with the entire group. I think smaller classrooms and more charter schools are a good idea, too.

If elected to the Assembly, I pledge to make this one of my top priorities.
