On Saturday, May 2, conservative superstar Lara Logan spoke at the Republican Party of Dane County Lincoln Day Dinner in Madison, Wisconsin.

Lara delivered a terrific address.

It was 2011 and Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak was under siege. Lara went to Egypt to cover the Arab Spring uprisings for CBS News.

Lara was accused of being an Israeli spy!  She fought back.

Lara is really a Christian born in South Africa who by then resided in the United States.

At the time there was a feeling that Mubarak would fall. He had been dictator for 30 years.

Lara saw a heavily cloaked woman with eye slits. Her sign said, “Freedom for Egypt is freedom for Egyptian women.”

Then her translator yelled, “We have to run!!!”

Lara and her translator were overwhelmed by a mob.

At first we thought the young Egyptian men would help us. But women were raped, sodomized, and beaten.

Lara was so scared she thought, “Stay on your feet or you’re gonna die.”

She was fighting for breath. The mob sucked all the oxygen out of the air.

“I felt fear.”

“I know something about fear,” Lara confided to us.

“I accepted my own death.”

“I hoped I would live.”

“The terror was indescribable!”

Lara cried.

Then the Egyptian military fought through the mob.

“They wouldn’t touch me because I was naked.”

Finally, they covered me.

“Why am I telling you this?”

“Don’t fight for things that don’t exist anymore.”

“Evil is on the march.”

“God and truth are the most powerful weapons of all.”

Lara Logan spoke to us not as a victim but as a fighter. She wants us to know she will fight against evil, even when it puts herself in peril.

“I never give up,” Lara says.

“I believe good is stronger than evil.”

P.S.: Also speaking at the splendid event were Wisconsin governor candidate Tom Tiffany, Wisconsin AG candidate Eric Toney, Wisconsin Republican Chairman Brian Schimming, Wisconsin radio personality Vicki McKenna, and Dane County Republican Chair Mike Herl.
