The Fourth of July is a time for Americans to come together to celebrate the birth of our nation and the freedoms that define us. On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, boldly declaring that the thirteen colonies would no longer be governed by Great Britain. This historic moment established the United States as a nation founded on the principles of liberty, individual rights, and self-government. Each year, Independence Day reminds us of the courage and sacrifice of those who risked everything to secure those freedoms for future generations.

This year’s celebration carries even greater significance as our nation marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The semi-quincentennial is a once-in-a- generation milestone that invites Americans to reflect on our shared history, honor the achievements of those who came before us, and look toward the future with optimism. For two and a half centuries, the United States has remained a beacon of freedom and opportunity, inspiring people around the world with the enduring ideals of democracy and the rule of law.

The Fourth of July is also a time to recognize the men and women who have defended our country throughout its history. From the soldiers of the Revolutionary War to the members of our Armed Forces serving today, generations of Americans have answered the call to protect our
nation and preserve the liberties we cherish. We are equally grateful to our veterans, first responders, and all those who continue to serve their communities with courage and dedication. Their commitment reminds us that freedom is never guaranteed and must always be protected.

As families gather for parades, community celebrations, fireworks, and time with loved ones, we are reminded that our nation’s strength comes from the values we share: freedom, personal responsibility, hard work, and a commitment to one another. The 250th birthday of the United States is an opportunity to renew our appreciation for the blessings of living in this great nation and to pass those values on to the next generation. As we celebrate Independence Day, let us honor our past, give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy today, and recommit ourselves to preserving the American dream for generations to come.
