The Allouez Republican after last night’s vote said Republicans failed to prove Mayorkas breached the “impeachment threshold Republicans outlined while defending former President Trump.”

The co-chairs of the Joint Audit Committee and the Evers administration are at odds over whether interest from federal COVID-19 funds should be deposited in the general fund. The state collected more than $97 million in interest off the $3 billion in funds it received.

U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips, the Dem presidential candidate from Minnesota, insists he will remain in the race through at least Wisconsin’s primary in April after the Wisconsin Supreme Court Friday ordered his name appear on the ballot. “My mission is to demonstrate to the country there’s an alternative,” Phillips said on WISN’s “UpFront,” which is produced in partnership with WisPolitics.

The court ruled the Presidential Preference Selection Committee abused its discretion in refusing to include Phillips on the ballot alongside President Joe Biden.

On this week’s episode of WisconsinEye’s “Rewind,” WisPolitics’s JR Ross and CBS 58’s Emilee Fannon discuss the latest in the redistricting case before the state Supreme Court, Minnesota U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips’ lawsuit to be included on the Dem presidential primary ballot in Wisconsin, Gov. Tony Evers signing legislation intended to increase dental care access and more.

The consultants didn’t include a recommendation of which Dem proposal they thought was superior.

State Rep. Katrina Shankland tells WisPolitics Capitol Chats that 3rd CD freshman Cong. Derrick Van Orden isn’t serving his constituents, arguing he has been in the news repeatedly for “all the wrong reasons.” Shankland is one of three Dems in the race to unseat the Prairie du Chien Republican.

The Dem governor had vowed to veto the maps when Republicans quickly pushed them through last week. The state Supreme Court is poised to pick new lines unless the guv and lawmakers could reach a deal.

The state Supreme Court is weighing whether to hear Dean Phillips’ lawsuit over the decision to leave the Minnesota congressman off the Dem presidential primary ballot.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Friday toured a training center in Milwaukee and met with business and economic leaders, including lunch with Gov. Tony Evers.

On this week’s episode of WisconsinEye’s “Rewind,” WisPolitics’s JR Ross and CBS 58’s Emilee Fannon discuss Assembly Republicans passing a bill that would put a 14-week abortion ban before voters, GOP passage of a revised redistricting map, Gov. Tony Evers’ State of the State address, Republicans’ $2.1 billion tax package and this week’s visits from President Biden and Vice President Harris.

The guv’s office said the appointment is effective Tuesday, and Taylor is resigning from the state Senate today.

President Joe Biden on Thursday touted $1 billion in federal funding for a bridge connecting Superior to Duluth, Minn., as part of an effort to rebuild American pride, not just an investment in critical infrastructure.

Assembly Republicans today approved legislation that would ask voters whether the state should ban abortion after 14 weeks after the chamber rejected a series of attempts by GOP Rep. Chuck Wichgers to amend the bill. It cleared the chamber 53-46 with 11 Republicans joining all Dems in opposing it.

The move comes after the Natural Resources Board last year approved a wolf management plan that did away with the previous 350-wolf goal. The body replaced the number with a plan focused on adapting to changing populations in different areas of the state.

The drop was largely driven by two factors: a decrease in the projected growth of tax collections and the deal Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, R-Rochester, struck with UW officials to curtail DEI positions that included additional funds for the system. The latter includes $423 million in state money for building projects on the UW campuses, among other things.

Assembly Republicans approved an amended version of Tony Evers’ redistricting plan, arguing the Dem guv should sign off on the changes because the proposal would still include the vast majority of what he proposed to the state Supreme Court. But the guv quickly dismissed the plans, saying he will veto them.

Dem Gov. Tony Evers in his sixth State of the State address announced plans to make contraception easier to obtain for those on BadgerCare, demanded GOP lawmakers come up with a plan to preserve the state’s child care industry and vowed to veto any attempts to restrict abortion access.

The proposal cleared the chamber 17-14 with GOP Sens. Joan Ballweg, of Markesan; Julian Bradley, of Franklin; Chris Kapenga, of Delafield; and Eric Wimberger, of Green Bay; joining Dems in opposition.

According to prepared remarks the guv’s office released today, Evers will lay out three challenges to addressing the state’s workforce challenges, including addressing child care. His list also includes expanding paid family medical leave, a proposal Republicans rejected in the 2023-25 state budget, and investing in public education “at every level.”
