State Supreme Court: Court interpreter training planned for Wisconsin Rapids

CONTACT: Carmel Capati Office of Court Operations (608) 266-8635 Madison – The Director of State Courts Office is accepting applications for interpreter training to be held in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17 at the Hotel Mead Conference Center. While Spanish interpreters are most often requested by the courts, increased efforts are being made to recruit qualified interpreters for many other languages, such as Arabic, Burmese, Cantonese, Mandarin, French, Hmong, Karen, Lao, Punjabi, and Vietnamese. The courts generally use interpreters in more than 50 different languages each year, including sign language. Limited scholarships are available for some non-Spanish languages.
