Sen. Risser: Reaction to Senate’s extraordinary session

Contact: Senator Fred Risser 608-266-1627 MADISON – Today the Wisconsin State Senate passed legislation in response to the State’s COVID-19 crisis. “I think this bill is but a small step in the right direction,” said Risser. “Quite frankly, this bill doesn’t go far enough. It is unfortunate that given the length of time Republican Leadership took in drafting legislation they chose to ignore many of the priorities laid out in Governor Evers’ COVID-19 bills.” Continued Risser, “we must act now to provide hazard pay for healthcare workers on the frontlines of this crisis and ensure that all our healthcare workers

Under normal circumstances today would be a very busy day at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue as last-minute filers would be scrambling to meet the April 15th deadline, but this year is different – very different.  It is a little quieter at the Department of Revenue today because last month both federal and Wisconsin income tax payment and return due dates were automatically extended to July 15, 2020.  Wisconsin law automatically extends time and waives interest and penalties for taxpayers due to a presidentially declared disaster. Tax filers do not have to file any extension forms to be eligible for this

By taking swift and responsible action to address the economic damage created by this epidemic, by lifting barriers to the health care community and holding the line on spending, Wisconsin is in
