Ron Kind joined a bipartisan, bicameral group of lawmakers in calling to make the telehealth services that were extended during the COVID-19 pandemic to be made permanent. Provisions from the CONNECT for Health Act, which Rep. Kind cosponsored, were included in previous COVID-19 legislation and allowed Medicare beneficiaries across Wisconsin to utilize telehealth services, as well as other types of health care providers to provide telehealth. MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reminds black bear and wild turkey hunters the 2021 season application deadline is before midnight on Dec. 10, 2020. Hunters can purchase applications for permit drawings at GoWild.wi.gov or through an authorized license agent. Dept. of Health Services: Announces new COVID-19 guidance on quarantine duration

In response to new guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Department of Health Services (DHS) has updated quarantine guidance for close contacts of someone diagnosed with COVID-19. The updated guidance will go into effect for Wisconsinites on Monday, December 7. “For many, there may be barriers that make quarantining for a full 14 days extremely challenging,” said DHS Secretary-designee Andrea Palm. “While a shorter quarantine carries additional risk of spreading COVID-19, when done responsibly, it can make quarantining easier for more Wisconsinites.” View the entire news release.

Roggensack appoints Racine County judge to hear Trump election lawsuits

Wisconsin Chief Justice Pat Roggensack has appointed Racine County Reserve Judge Stephen Simanek to oversee President Trump’s appeal of the recounts in Dane and Milwaukee counties. After the state Supreme Court split 4-3 years in rejecting Trump’s request to take up his case directly, the president’s campaign filed notices of appeal in both counties. In an order last night, Roggensack consolidated the cases as provided under state law in the appeal of recounts that occurred in more than one judicial district. She then appointed Simanek to hear the case. Simanek, 75, served on the Racine County Circuit Court from 1980-2010.
