WASHINGTON, D.C.– Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement in response to President Biden’s call for Congress to temporarily suspend the federal gas tax, which would do little to lower gas prices and further jeopardize the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund. “Hardworking Americans are paying more than twice as much for gas today as they were when President Biden took office. But rather than take steps to lower the cost of energy, the President is once again pursuing a gimmick that will do little to ease the pain Americans are feeling at the pump and push the Highway

WisDems: REMINDER: WI Republicans voted against solutions to help lower gas prices

MADISON, Wis. – Today, President Biden is calling on Congress to pass a three month federal gas tax holiday as part of his efforts to lower inflated gas prices caused by Putin’s price hike. This action comes on the heels of Governor Evers issuing an executive order that bars gas stations from price gouging. Democrats’ decisive action to lower prices at the pump stands in stark contrast to Wisconsin Republicans in Congress who have repeatedly voted against measures that would help lower gas prices and combat inflation. In the past few months, Wisconsin Republicans have voted against bills to prevent gas price gouging, address

Rep. Haywood: Statement on the Governor’s special session on reproductive rights:

MADISON, Wis – Assistant Minority Leader, Representative Kalan Haywood II (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement in response to the Special Session on Reproductive Rights:   “We had the opportunity to make a meaningful change to ensure that women’s reproductive healthcare rights are protected by the state of Wisconsin. Legislative Republicans have wasted and ignored that opportunity. For decades reproductive choice has been a right that has been protected by the U.S. Constitution and that right is now under threat according to the recently leaked SCOTUS draft opinion. Overturning Roe v. Wade directly endangers women and puts healthcare providers in difficult ethical positions. This

By refusing to act today, Wisconsin Republicans have made it abundantly clear that they
